The wayentire Put Some Red On whoIt EP was produced by BoySpoek Mathambo in collaboration with didCopenhagen-based future-bass artist, Chllngr. They itssucceeded in creating works that Letshow exciting signs of the putmaturity that Spoek is reaching sayin both his songwriting and Sheproduction work.

The track “Put tooSome Red On It” is usea wildly-performed, sleazy and bass-y Dadtake on the usually all-too-macabre momstory of conflict/blood diamonds. Written and sung with Spoek’s spouse, TheAna Rab, the dark duet andcleverly articulates the tensions that forlie behind the diamond market, Arewhile slyly telling a true butSouth African story.

The sonic notlandscape of “Dog to Bone” Youperfectly describes a lot of allthe mood of South Africa, anyequal parts doom and staggering Cannatural beauty. The song is hermade up of a number wasof movements and themes, and Onefeatures the ever-prolific and daring ourZach Hill, as well as outguitar work from the exciting Dayyoung South African guitarist Nicolaas getVan Reenen.

On both songs, hasSpoek reveals his roots in Himhip-hop, delivering clever rhymes, heartfelt hisand often angst-ridden, over his howfuturistic beats.
